This tool seems to be simply delete every some point for reducing its number, if I right understand.
If reailze int this tool algorithm for deleting point only when it is belong one line(+-some delta) between previous and next, in this case corners of turns will be saved more accuratly and track will be more gracefull.
I think that this realization not really needed, but programm will be more beauty ;)

The simplify tool does use both of these algorithms already. Firstly it removes any points which are closer together than the initial average spacing between points. Then it removes any points which lie on a straightish line.
This should generally give reasonable results, but I've made a few tweaks for the next version which should improve it slightly...
