Subject: | N95 8GB Working but...
bananek 19:38 Location: Phone Model: | Hello. I have a problem with my Nokia N95 8GB. When you run the application, plug in the internal GPS receiver, every 5 seconds I get the message " let the application TMJ-Mobile application to use the "positioning"? The application works, but the message is annoying, because I have still to confirm it. Is there a solution to this problem. Maybe I have something set wrong on my phone?
bigad 20:44 Location: Phone Model: | Hi I've got an E71 but it should be similar to your N95; Go to Menu>Installations>App.mgr.>TMJ-Mobile.........Open.....then change the positioning category to "ask first time" (or "always allowed" if its there). Change any other categories at the same time to avoid problems - particularly Network Access and Connectivity. Adam
macpanda 21:13 Location: Phone Model: | On the N95 this is Menu->Applications->App.mgr. Scroll down to TMJ-Mobile (which has a jigsaw icon with a blue box as it's Java, and will be below all the Symbian apps which are red) Click the center (fire) button and chose Open Scroll down to Positioning and select "Ask First Time" It will still ask when you run the app each time, but won't ask again.
bananek 12:49 Location: Phone Model: | Hello again. Thank you very much for your help in solving my problem. In between the time appeared to me next. I can not connect to the GPS receiver. I got a message: "Invalid Int GPS Signal". I can not solve this problem. Thank you in advance for your help. Best regards, Darek
Stephen 0:04 Location: Phone Model: | Hi Darek, The Int GPS Signal Invalid status usually just means that the phone is currently unable to get a GPS fix due to a bad signal (eg if you're inside, under a bridge, etc). If you give it a couple of minutes does it eventualy get a fix? Also, if you set the Menu/Settings/Other Settings/Allow Int GPS Costs option, this should speed up this initial 'time-to-fix' as the phone can then download some basic satellite positional data from the web (rather than having to get it from the individual satellites themselves). Cheers, Stephen
bananek 21:45 Location: Phone Model: | Hi Stephen. I tried to catch a signal several times in pure heaven. I waited about 10 minutes and failed. I add that other programs (TomTom, nokiamaps) fairly quickly connect with the GPS. I checked the settings, which provide advice, but I have everything set up exactly as you say. Maybe I have just bad luck: ( Anyway thanks for your help and time devoted to me.
Stephen 10:18 Location: Phone Model: | Thats strange! Do you have any errors listed in the Event Log (Menu/Settings/Debug Options/View Event Log)? Also, does ticking the Settings/Other Settings/Int GPS: Basic Connection option (and then restarting) have any effect? Cheers, Stephen
bigad 22:15 Location: Phone Model: | Have you tried running the Nokia GPS application, getting a fix, then starting TMJ? You need to leave nokia GPS running in the background. Once TMJ has a fix swap back to nokia gps and close it. Not sure why but this seems to work for me sometimes. Other times TMJ finds a fix itself.
bananek 21:21 Location: Phone Model: | Hi guys. Basic connection option does not work, but I managed to connect and maintain a connection using the guidance of bigad. Once again, thank you very much. Finally I can fully enjoy the features of tmj
bigad 0:01 Location: Phone Model: | Have you tried enabling the "allow costs" option in settings - I'm not sure but this seems to allow A-GPS to work, so the satellite lock is much much quicker.
