Juggzy 11:49 | I am a complete doofus at this - I think that I may have missed an email somewhere. I have got tmj mobile working (sort of) on my blackberry; I have registered here, but I can't seem to link my mobile to this online site so that I can see where I am (yes, I know) or where I've been. I *do* seem to be able to do this from the blackberry (or I managed it once). OK, back to reading the tutorials.
Juggzy 12:36 | Further to this, I think I am doing everything right according to the information in the tutorials. However, from the introductory screen/context menu/GPS/web I have the following information: java.io..IOException: Tunnel failed. I have enabled GPS upload, etc.
Stephen 18:47 Location: Phone Model: | Hi, I've occasionally seen this 'Tunnel' error on other BlackBerrys, and it seems to happen where the phone has not been fully configured for internet access. In your off-list e-mail you say that you're with Orange, so in the phones main menu try changing the Options/Advanced Options/TCPIP/APN setting to "orangeinternet", then fully reboot the phone (turn it off and remove the battery). If it works, the GPS/Web page should give a brief description of your current location (or nearest major town), and the General/Snt/Rcd/Fld field should just have figures in the SeNT and ReCeiveD values (and none in FaiLeD)... Any luck? Cheers, Stephen (PS: if it does work, you might want to keep an eye on your data usage as some of the pages I found on Google seemed to suggest that Orange may charge differently when using a different APN.)
Juggzy 17:30 | Thanks Stephen - I'm about to give it a try. When I've tried that I'll pop down to the orange shop where there's a very knowledgable girl and ask her about data types and data costs and get all the information back to you.
Juggzy 17:34 | OK. In the TCP/IP menu I have the following information: APN settings Enabled (this is ticked) APN: (this is empty) Username for APN:(empty) Password for APN: (empty) There appears to be no obvious place that I can type orangeinternet. I'll print this thread out (have to do it from work) and take it to the orange shop as soon as I can and get back to you with their response.
hoiho 22:44 Location: Phone Model: | "orangeinternet" is the APN, so that's where you type it: APN: orangeinternet Username for APN: user Password for APN: pass The last two can be anything, I believe.
Juggzy 22:51 | This works to correct the java tunnel problem and allow me to show on the live page. Thank you very much. I have spoken to someone at Orange and apparently the blackberry bolt on allows data download of all types so this shouldn't be charging me extra. I will be going into the Orange shop to speak to the friendly and interested geek there to show them what I have done, ask why it isn't configured properly in the first place and check that the data through APN is included in the bolt on for anyone else who has this problem.
hoiho 19:41 Location: Phone Model: | Make sure that you ask about the Interenet APN, rather than the WAP APN, as they may well be charged differently.
