Hi Stephen,
How are you? It's been a while... :o)
Just a thought for a new feature (inspired by something I saw on another application the other day)
You know the screen that displays speed etc. in large characters... If you were to give an option to show that screen in bright colours, and in mirror writing, then by cunning positioning of the phone on the dashboard, it can give a 'Head Up Display' with the phone's screen reflected in the windscreen... (works better at night and with a BIG screened phone).
Bit of a gimick, I suppose, but it actually looked quite cool.

probably not one for the 'urgent' list, but maybe you could add it to the 'fun things to have a play with when I'm a bit bored' list??

All the best!

Chris.

Hi Chris,

Yeah, not bad thanks! :-)

Interesting idea about the mirrored readout. I guess this could work, though I'm a little concerned about the safety aspect of having a bright (often too bright, even in night-colours mode) mobile screen reflected in the field of vision when driving...? I'll think about it though.

(Incidentally I'm not sure it would be too easy to mirror the Units and field Title as these are drawn in standard J2ME text. Guess this wouldn't be a major issue though as long as the main digits are visible...)

Cheers,
Stephen

Hmm, fair point about the safety aspect, I suppose. On the one I saw, it seemed just right. Bright enough to read, but not bright enough to really dazzle or distract, and you could still see the road ahead 'through' the reflection. IIRC, it was bright green numbers, on a black background.
Don't know if that was by design, or luck on behalf of the application designer mind, and I guess with the huge range of phones and screens around, it could be tricky to pitch it just right so that it was safe for all devices.
I'm not even sure, in reality, how useful it'd actually be, but it did look quite cool...

Chris.
