Hi Zandis,

I'm not sure why you're getting this error (or even what the error means!), but it may be a sign that the phone is running out of memory or resources.

What sort of map file are you trying to open? If it is a large map file this might be too much for the phone to handle - are you able to open the World (Simple) map? This is a very simple file which shouldn't put too much strain on the phone. (Incidentally this map will display wrong on the 9300 as the phones screen resolution is larger than this maps tile size, but try it all the same).

Also, try ticking the Map page Context Menu/Offline Map/Alternate Map Loading Method option, which uses a slightly different method to read the map data from the memory card and may help on some Nokia/Symbian phones.

Yes, I think you're probably correct with the BSOD analogy - its essentially the JVM itself crashing rather than TMJ (though its possibly triggered by an exception initially occuring in TMJ).

I have very occasionally had a similar message (the KERN EXEC part at least) on my 5800 whilst using the Online Raster tiles (not the offline maps), but the 5800 also gives the Java exception which triggered the crash, which helps in debugging the code!

I'm suspicious why you're only getting it *after* loading the map - I suspect that it could still be a memory/resources issue since the raster maps do use a fair chunk of extra resources, which maybe are getting scarce on the 9300.

(Incidentally the strange map display is due to the 'World Simple' map being made of 320x320 pixels tiles, whereas these need to be at least as large as the phones screen resolution, ie 640x200 for the 9300, so you'd need to assemble a map manually using the MapOrganiser)

Not sure if I'll be able to resolve this, though the next version should get rid of *most* of the KERN EXEC errors on the 5800, so may help with your phone too...!
