meinalf 20:10 Phone Model: | Hello, with interest I read the old posting concerning geocaching between shchenka and Stephen on http://www.trackmyjourney.co.uk/index.php?page=forum&forum=2&thread=223. So I tried to import gpx, loc and wpt files on the tmj website to get geocaches from geocaching.com into tmj via waypoint synchronisation. GPX is not offered for waypoints, for tracks or route it gives errors because there is no tracksection tag in the geocaching gpx files (of cause the is only on coordinate pair in it). GPX is much more prefereable than loc or wpt, because the complete cache descrition is available in it, its an important information for geocaching! Only loc and wpt was successful, but from the loc file even the URL to the complete cache description in the web is not imported. So there seems to be no way to import geocaches including any information (text or URL) necessary for geocaching. Did I miss any tricks concerning this topic? Would it be possible to implement URL import from loc files into the web upload page of tmj? Thanks again for your stunning tmj application! Here one simple loc file from geocaching.com: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <loc version="1.0" src="Groundspeak"> <waypoint> <name id="GC19EJ7"><![CDATA[Kieler Seilbahn by KBreker]]></name> <coord lat="54.321917" lon="10.138017"/> <type>Geocache</type> <link text="Cache Details">http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC19EJ7</link> </waypoint></loc> P.S: SmartGPX is an alternative for geocachers, with the addon http://www.smartcaching.de/smartgpxaddon.html (for Nokia / S60 only :-( it even can direct me to the caches! Thanks, Meinalf | |
Stephen 9:13 Location: Phone Model: | Hi Meinalf, I'm not sure why your LOC import didn't include the waypoint URL - I've just tried it with your example geocache file and it seemed to import fine from here. Make sure you select the 'Take Description from: Loc Record Link/URL' option in the LOC import form. Also, I've just added a new 'Upload/Waypoints from GPX File' page to the site - I actually wrote this ages ago, but must have forgotton to add it to the list of Upload options! Incidentally, I'd recommend using the URL option rather than importing the whole geocache description - these can be rather long and since TMJ loads the full descriptions for *all* waypoints, phone memory might suffer if loading many long geocache descriptions! Hope that helps - any luck with the LOC importing? Cheers, Stephen | |
zsoltp 13:54 | Hi Stephen, I use well the TMJ for geocaching, but I also tasted this problem with the Groundspeak's gpx. Can you solve the parsing of Groundspeak's general tags by a new upload wayponts function, please? I'm not specialist of this, I think the most important special Groundspeak tags are: <groundspeak:name> -- this value should be there between the <name></name> tags I think these values should be there between the <desc></desc> tags with separated by tag-name + new paragraph in this order: <groundspeak:type> <groundspeak:container> <groundspeak:encoded_hints> <groundspeak:short_description> <groundspeak:long_description> <groundspeak:logs> Two years passed already, I think the data traffic is not problem already. Thanks in advance! ZsoltP | |
Stephen 18:48 Location: Phone Model: | Hi ZsoltP, Yes, I should be able to add these tags as an option to the Upload page, however, could you firstly send me an example GPX file that I can use to test the import - thanks. (I've emailed you off-list) Cheers, Stephen | |
Stephen 8:37 Location: Phone Model: | Hi ZsoltP, Apologies for the delay - thanks for sending the example files off-list... I've now added the Groundspeak tag options into the Upload GPX Waypoints page as suggested. However I've currently left out the Groundspeak:logs tags since these look like they will significantly add to the length of the description field... I've also added a Groundspeak:type option to the Waypoint Type list that will differentiate between Multi- and Traditional-caches. Hope it helps! Cheers, Stephen | |
zsoltp 10:19 | Hi Stephen, Thx for the quick improvement. These changes will help for the geocaching with TMJ :) Thx again, ZsoltP | |
