Hi,
I think every phone has built-in thermometer (for example SE K800i can measure phone's and battery's temperature). Is it difficult to read and present this data? It would be very useful...

Hi Adrian,

I'm not sure if thats actually right about the K800 - I can't find anything mentioning temperature sensing in the K800i Whitepaper?? (I guess it might have an internal sensor to prevent overheating, but if so its not accessible by J2ME unfortunately).

Having said that its likely that more and more smartphones will have temperature and other sensors (eg, digital compass, etc), which I would like to get working in TMJ in some way, though I'd really need to have it in my own phone to be able to test, so it'll depend largely on my next phone upgrade...!

Cheers,
Stephen

Hi Stephen,
I don't know if J2ME can access internal temperature sensor, but the program MyPhoneExplorer, which connects with the phone by bluetooth can read this information.
Below screen from this program:

Wow, so it does. I suspect that must use a very low-level API to access the temperature data, still its odd that SE doesn't appear to allow it to be read more easily...
